Séminaire - Ruchi Tomar

Jeudi 27 Octobre 2022 à 14h00, Ruchi Tomar (UMPhy) donnera un séminaire intitulée : "A new conducting interface of polar-polar perovskite oxides with strong spin-orbit coupling"
Résumé :
Heterostructures of perovskite oxides have been gaining wide interest due to rich variety of phenomena realized at their interfaces. Among the perovskite oxide family, KTaO3 (KTO) is a prime attraction due to various functionalities and rich physics invented. We fabricated a new interface of polar-polar (LaVO3/KTO) perovskite oxides. Two-dimensional electron gas with strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC) was observed at this interface. Similar to the topological systems, we observed two-fold oscillations as well as B2 dependence of anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) and planar Hall effect (PHE) at low magnetic field (B) that can be intuitively understood using a phenomenological theory for a Rashba spin-split system. At high magnetic fields, two-fold to four-fold transition was observed in the AMR which could not be explained using only Rashba spin-split energy spectra and that demands for an elaborate theoretical analysis. Such a model system may open up an avenue for in-depth understanding of the physical properties of low dimensional relativistic electrons in oxide materials with strong SOC.
